Zane's Berzina practice led research evolves around responsive and interactive textiles, new textile materials, processes and technologies as well as biomimetic practices. She is developing and testing new applications and technologies within textile design, which arise from research, particularly focusing on aspects of electronic textiles and interactive environments. Zane also contributes to international seminars and conferences.
Currently Zane is collaborating with the in square lab in London, the Textile Research Institute Thuringia-Vogtland in Germany, Computing Department at Goldsmiths College in London, Department of Materials at the Queen Mary University of London. Previous research collaborations include the Fraunhofer Institute, Division for Synthesis Technology and Polymer Engineering in Germany; Freie Universitat Berlin, Institute for Biology and Zoology in Germany; the Textile company Creation Baumann in Langenthal, Switzerland and Strigl + Kramm Architects in Darmstadt, Germany.
