Interactive Textile Structures:

How Will Smart Materials Affect Our Life In the Future? by Lena Berglin (Sweden)
01.11.2007

The rapid technological developments are inevitably changing our every day environments and the way we interact with people and things around us. Lena Berglin is a textile designer and researcher who, through her own practice, re-thinks the ways how the technological interfaces surrounding our lives could be made more responsive, intelligent, playful and soft. She will talk about her doctoral research project Interactive Textile Structures where she explores how high-tech technology can be combined with advanced textile design.

Lena Berglin is a PhD student at the Swedish School of Textiles in Boras and Chalmers University of Technology. Her lecture will introduce the series of the upcoming Body & Space events dedicated to explorations of smart textiles within the Swedish design context. The Body & Space events are initiated by e-text+textiles and will take place in Riga in February and March 2008.
